David S. Barnes is a passionate educator that is determined to advance America’s youth through inspiring challenges and fostering life skills. He has been a Priority Charter School Trustee since 2017 and currently serves as Secretary. His unique life experiences drive him to impact the education of children, and he is humbled to be a member of the Social Studies Department at Tom Glenn High School in the Leander Independent School District.
David Barnes’ education includes a Texas Educator Certificate for Social Studies grades 7-12 and Speech; a Masters Degree in Education – Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University-Central Texas, Killeen, Texas; a Masters Degree in Political Science from Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, New Hampshire; a Bachelors Degree in History and Organizational Management from Excelsior College, Albany, New York. He is currently working toward a Doctorate in Education Leadership from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia.
Mr. Barnes has a diverse background that is amazingly rare. Having served in the United States Army for over 27 years, lived across eight countries and nine States, he is personally committed to developing each student’s global mindset to succeed in the future. Barnes’ life achievements include earning the Bronze Star, awarded the Sergeant Audie Murphy Award for leadership excellence, and serving as a United States Army Pathfinder for the 101st Airborne Division. In his last three years of the military, Barnes served as a Support Operations Manager for Strategic Logistics in South Korea, a Department of Defense Sexual Assault Victims Advocate for III Corps, Fort Hood, and Aviation Training Manager for Division West, Fort Hood.
David Barnes has been blessed to live in Georgetown, Texas, with his loving wife, Evie Barnes, and their two children, Willow and Jameson.
